Creating recordings
To record an outgoing call, first, open Recordkit, press the large record button in the bottom center of the screen, and then press “Record call”. This will initiate an outgoing call to Recordkit’s recording line. Once connected, tap the “add call” button on your screen to dial the person you want to record. Once the person you want to record answers, tap the “merge calls” button to connect all lines. Our recording line will then record your entire conversation until you disconnect.

Please note that you are not able to record outgoing calls that mask or block your caller ID from the party you are calling.
There are two methods available to record an incoming call.

First, if you have granted Contacts permission to Recordkit, you will have contact in your address book labeled “Kitt (Recordkit call assistant)”. After you answer the incoming call, press the “Add” button in the bottom left corner, search for “Kitt'' and select the contact labeled as “Kitt (Recordkit call assistant)”. This will initiate an outgoing call to Recordkit’s recording line. Once connected, tap the “merge calls” button, which will join the phone call between you, the individual that contacted you and the Recodkit recording line. Our recording line will then record your entire conversation until you disconnect.

Alternatively, after you answer the call, you can open Recordkit and press the large record button in the bottom center of the screen and then press “Record call”. This will initiate an outgoing call to Recordkit’s recording line. Once connected, tap the “merge calls” button, which will join the phone call between you, the individual that contacted you and the Recodkit recording line. Our recording line will then record your entire conversation until you disconnect.
To record an outgoing call, first, open Recordkit, press the large record button in the bottom center of the screen and then press “Record voice”. This will automatically begin a voice memo recording.

You can pause the recording at any time by pressing the pause button at the bottom of the screen. Pressing play will also pause the recording and replay what has been recorded so far. When you have finished recording, press the stop button to complete the recording.
Recordkit is designed to allow you to record calls from your phone number to another phone number using the conference calling feature that your carrier offers. This means that Recordkit can only record calls on services that directly use your phone number to place the call. This means, for example, that if you are dialing into a Zoom meeting (or other similar virtual meeting provider), you can record that meeting by placing a call to our recording line first, using the phone dial-in instructions to join the Zoom meeting and merging those two calls.

However, Recordkit is unable to record using Hangouts, Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp, or similar apps that do not directly use your phone number to place the call.
As many as you like! Recordkit does not place a limit on the number of recordings you can make.
As long as you like! Recordkit does not place a limit on the length of recordings you can make.
As soon as you hang up, we process the recording and push it to your phone within seconds. This process may take slightly longer for recordings over 30 minutes in length.
Recordkit works by creating a conference call between you, the other participants on a call, and our recording line, which records the call. This means that your mobile carrier must support 3-way conference calling in order for Recordkit to function properly. Without this, the “merge calls” button will not function and Recordkit will not be able to record your calls.

Please note that some mobile carriers require their customers to request that 3-way conference calling be enabled for their line. If the “merge calls” button is not working for you, we suggest calling your mobile carrier and asking whether this feature can be enabled for your line.
Certain mobile carriers may delay the availability of call merging for up to 30 seconds after the first call is initiated. In order to prevent this from affecting your recording process, we suggest initiating your recording by first dialing our recording line. This will allow you to ensure the recording is in progress when your intended counterparty joins the call and can be done from within the Recordkit app by pressing the large record button in the bottom center of the screen and then pressing “Record call”.
Managing recordings
Recordings can be accessed via the home screen of the Recordkit app. To access them, click on the notebook corresponding to the recording you wish to view or listen to. Recordkit also offers the ability to group multiple recordings into a “Collection” and/or “Bookmark” individual recordings for easier access and management. You can access both of these features using the same long press action on an individual recording’s notebook on Recordkit’s home screen.
Recording transcriptions are available to all Standard and Premium subscribers. To transcribe a recording, open the Recordkit app and click on the recording that you wish to transcribe. You can also access this feature by clicking the three dots in the top right corner of the screen when viewing an individual transcript.
AI-powered summaries and action items are available to all Premium subscribers. To use either of these features, open the Recordkit app and click on the recording that you wish to interact with. In order to change the name of a recording, you can long press on the corresponding notebook on Recordkit’s home screen. Select the last option, labeled “Delete recording”. Deleted recordings will be kept in your “Recently Deleted” folder for 30 days, which can be found in the “Recording” tab in “Settings”. After this time, recordings will be permanently deleted from your device and Recordkit’s servers. You may also choose to permanently delete a recording immediately within the “Recently Deleted” folder by selecting the recordings you wish to permanently delete and clicking “Delete all” in the bottom left corner.
Your recordings will remain attached to the account registered to your email address. If you change devices, please re-download the Recordkit app and login to your account using the same email address and password combination. All previous recordings saved to your account will automatically be downloaded to your new device once you have successfully logged into your account.
Sharing recordings
To share a recording, open the Recordkit app and click on the recording that you wish to share. You will then see a button on the bottom right of the screen that says “Share”. Pressing this button will open up a sharing module with various options and settings for sharing your recording with others.
Once you have opened the sharing module (see above for instructions), you will see a section at the bottom labeled “General Access”, which will be defaulted to “Restricted” for each recording. If you are a Premium subscriber, you will see an option for “Password protected” when you click on the default option.

Changing your recording’s access settings to “Password protected” will enable the feature for the recording that you have selected. You will then be prompted to create a custom password that can be shared with your intended recipients. Please note that this applies to all individuals that you share the recording with.
If you have shared your recording with other Recordkit users, you may remove their access via the sharing module. This can be accessed by opening a recording and pressing the “Share” button in the bottom right corner. Once you reach the sharing module, you can choose to make your recording available only to specific individuals by setting “General Access” to “Restricted”. You can then use the “Direct Access” section to manage which individuals may access the recording.
Please ensure that your subscription remains active and in good standing. Once a subscription has expired, all shared recording links will be deprecated.

If you are a Premium subscriber using the Custom URL feature, please note that changing your Custom URL will deprecate any links that previously shared using your old Custom URL.
